BISSAU (Thikana) Shekhawat (Sadhani clan)

  1. Thakur KESHRI SINGH 1746/1768, born 1728, youngest son of Thakur Shardul Singh of the Panchpana in Shekhawati, married and had issue. He died 1768.

  2. Thakur SURAJ MAL 1768/1787, born 1755, one of the most outstanding warriors of his time who led the victorious Rajputs and died valiantly fighting in the battle of Tunga against the Marathas led by Mahji Scindhia, founded Surajgarh in 1778, constructed the Fort of Surajgarh; married the daughter of Kunwar Dip Singh of Dhariawad, and had issue. He died 28th July 1787.

  3. Thakur SHYAM SINGH 1787/1831, born 1771, the most famous of all the rulers of Bissau, he brought fame and fortune to the state of Bissau, he was considered amongst the best warriors of his time and aligned with the French in his constant battles with the British. Had also maintained very close ties with the Maharaja Ranjit Singh of the Punjab; married and had issue. He died 20th July 1833.

Rawal BISHAN SINGH 1893/1945, born 1891, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer, in 1939 Surajgarh and Bissau were amalgamated in the person of his son who was adopted into Surajgarh, married 1stly, Rani Abhay Kanwar, younger daughter of Maharaj Fateh Singhji of Raoti married 2ndly, 1913, Thakurani Anand Kanwar, daughter of Rao Bahadur Thakur GIRDHAR SINGH of Chandawal and his wife, Rani Indra Kanwar, and had issue. He died 31st December 1945.

  8. Maj. Rawal RAGHUBIR SINGHJI 1945/1971, born 28th December 1913 adopted by Thakur VIJAY SINGH of Surajgarh on 19th August 1915, thus uniting Bissau and Surajgarh, educated privately by his tutor, F.A. Jones M.A., C.B.E. and at Mayo College, Ajmer, and with the Sawai Man Singh Guards of the Jaipur State Forces; A.D.C. to the Maharaja of Jaipur; he was the noblest of all the rulers of Bissau, he brought Bissau back to its place of prominence after clearing the debts of the previous rulers. He was active both socially and politically and was immensely popular with all; married 21st February 1932, Rani Komal Kumari, daughter of HH Sri Raj-i-Rajan Maharawal Sir PRITHVI SINGH Bahadur of Banawara and had issue. He died 21st September 1971.

Rawal CHAKRAPANI SINGH 1971/1978, born 8th December 1933, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer and at the Institute of Science and Technology in Manchester, U.K., converted Bissau House at Jaipur into a successful hotel, married 5th February 1955 at Nagpur, Rani Sharda Kumari, daughter of Maj. Raja Bahadur BIRENDRA BAHADUR SINGH of Khairagarh and his wife, Rani Padmavati Devi, and had issue. He died 19th July 1978.

Thakur LAKSHMAN SINGH fl.1796, a brave and fearless warrior during his life time he fought many wars, including a war against the mirsen, against Thakur Dalel Singh of Pilani, the Mandan war as well as the war fought over the marriage of Princess Krishna Kumari of Mewar between the rulers of Jaipur and Jodhpur, as he was a close friend of Maharaja Sawai Jagat Singh of Jaipur; married in Sidhhmukh Thikana of Bikaner, and had issue. He died at the age of 52 years.

  • Thakur NAWAL SINGH Bahadur 1742/1780, born 1715, fifth son of Thakur Sardul Singh of jhunjhunu. and his third wife, Thakurani Bakhat Kanwar, he was granted the title of Bahadur and a mansab of 3000 zat and 2000 sawars in 1775, built Bala Kila Fort and Fatehgarh Fort both in Nawalgarh, built Dalelgarh Fort in Dalelgarh, later renamed Pilani, built Mandawa Fort in Mandawa; married 1stly, Thakurani Udawatji, daughter of Thakur Sangram Singh, and grand-daughter of Thakur Sabal Singh of Deh in Nagour, married 2ndly, Thakurani Bikawatji, daughter of Thakur Himmat Singh, and grand-daughter of Thakur Man Singh of Dadrewa in Bikaner, married 3rdly, Thakurani Champawatji, daughter of Thakur Hindu Singh, and grand-daughter of Thakur Amar Singh of Auwa in Jodhpur, married 4thly, Thakurani Bikawatji, daughter of Thakur Devi Singh, and grand-daughter of Thakur Mokal Singh of Bhadonda, and had issue, 10 sons. He died 24th February 1780 at Singhana where his cenotaph was built.

      • Kunwar Prithvi Singh, married Kunwarani Amar Kanwar Bidawatji, and had issue. He died vp 1816 in his Kunwarpadi.
        • Bhanwar Jawan Singh, died young in his Bhanwarpadi vpsp before 1816.
    • Thakur Dalel Singh, received Pilani and Baloda with 12 other villages.
    • Kunwar Lal Singh, received Sonthali with 12 other villages, died vpsp 6th June 1775.
    • HH Maharani Chandan Kanwar Shekhawatji Sahiba, married 1752, Kunwar Raj Singh (later HH Maharaja RAJ SINGH of Bikaner)
  • Thakur NARSINGHDAS 1780/1790, fought in the battles of Loharu, Kalund and Mandan, whilst his father was still alive, he married Thakurani Shyam Kanwarji, daughter of Thakur DEVI SINGH of pokhran she built the Mahadas Mandir and Bawari in 1801 near Bawari Darwaja in Nawalgarh, and had issue. He died 1790 when the thikana of Nawalgarh was divided into two shares.

  • Thakur CHANDRA SINGH -/1889, he adopted Kunwar Shiv Singh of Nawalgarh - Pana 1, who thus united the two shares, married. He died spm 1889 (his widow built the Kalyan Ji Mandir in Nawalgarh in 1903).

  • Thakur MOHABAT SINGH 1790/1822, shared jointly with his brothers, in their father's inheritance, he was granted the honour of Tazimi Sirdar by HH Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of Jaipur in 1797, he married and had issue. He died 1822 when his share was further divided between his two sons.

  • Thakur Saheb ROOP SINGHJI Saheb 1899/1926, born 1877, son of Thakur AJIT SINGH of Mandawa adopted to Thakur DURJANSAL, he inherited the share (Pana 1) of Thakur KALYAN SINGH in 1924, thus re-uniting the thikana of Nawalgarh; he built the Roop Niwash Kothi later finished by his son. He died sp 1926.
  • Rawal MADAN SINGHJI Saheb 1928/2002, born 4th November 1907 in Mandawa, son of Thakur HARI SINGH of Mandawa (Line II) and succeeded by adoption in September 1928, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer 1923/1928, he was granted the title of Rawal by HH Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur on 12th March 1947 in his Rajat Jaiyanti Samahro in Jaipur; he constructed the road (Rajpath) from the Railway Station to Roop Niwas Kothi in Nawalgarh, he built the Nawalgarh Bhawan in Jaipur; married 1925, the daughter of Thakur PRATAP SINGH of Auwa died 1992, and had issue. He died January 2002.
    • Kunwar Sangram Singh, born 6th March 1926, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer and Allahabad University; MA, LL.B., Director of Sawai Man Singh City Palace Museum for 10 years, married 1stly, 1949, Kunwarani Daulat Kumari, daughter of Thakur LAXMAN SINGH of Ghanerao, and his wife, Thakurani Prem Kumari, married 2ndly, Kanwarani Kusum Kumari of Nawanagar and had issue. He died 14th February 1994 at Nawalgarh.
